Ive found that hair spray, sprayed on to a cloth, works well with biro on leather, but as allways test first

if you are not sure of the mark been ink or wear then best get a microscope i got one from ltt and from ebay both do the job. regarding ink you can buy a pen from ltt that should do the job on 99% of the cases its like a lipstick and applied direct to the ink line

Hi
Ink removal is not simply a cleaning job. General cleaning products will not usually remove ink unless you are very lucky. Therefore it is necessary to use products which may cause other problems and you have to understand how to deal with these problems before you start.
An ink remover is always a good place. In certain circumstances this can completely remove the ink but you have to make sure you know what type of leather you are dealing with. Ink sticks cannot be used on anilines and on some micro pigments they wil actually remove colour so test first or satisfy yourself with one of the 5 tests to establish what you are dealing with.
Anything further than this becomes a technical problem as you will be using solvents to remove the ink. The ink has basically re-dyed the leather and whatever you do will certainly remove finish and possibly pigment so you need to understand how to replace these.
It is always a good idea for customers with pale coloured leathers to purchase an ink stick from you so that they have one to hand if the need arises, the quicker you get to ink the more chance you have of removing it, and the use of Leather Protector will slow down the speed at which the ink soaks into the finish.
It is not a good idea to use hairspray as any residues left on the leather will attract dirt very quickly and although it can work in some circumstances it is still neccessary to know what type of leather you have and what it is likely to do. A microscope is a must when dealing with leather as it gives you so much information to help with your work and takes so little time to use. (It also looks good!!!)
Hope this helps

You may be able to help with this one.
Ive been getting rashes on both arms for the past year and a half...
Myself and the doctor have narrowed the culprit down to the black leather suite I bought around the same time...The Doc reacons that the leather dye may be causing the problem..Is this possible, and is there a treatment i could use on the leather to stop this?

Hi Scott
Sorry to hear you have problems but we have come across this before.
You would need to get the leather tested to see what pigments and finishes have been used before you could determine whether anything can be put on it to stop this.
The BLC, SATRA or Leather wise would be able to do these tests for you but they are not cheap, unfortunately we do not have the equipment to do this sort of testing.
Hope this helps
