No, it's ISOPROPANOL   :D  I don't think Vision is alcohol based.
It's bubbling because IPA is a wetting agent and so reduces surface tension. Nasty stuff though and very flammable when neat.
vision isn't alcholol based dave, ipa isn't nasty,in truth its used in various concentrations in most everday cleaners, you go to the doctors/hospital,that hand cleaner you clean your hands with?guess what it iso based,i have never tried iso on its own as i prefer to blend iso with "other things",do bubbles mean its a wetting agent?i am confused now dave, clarify this for me

Recently spent a few days up at Creiff hydro and thought the IPA smell was following me, the cleaners were using it on hand rails etc. I didn't know much about it until I bought and then read up. Something else I use is hydrochloric acid which is know as brick cleaner and also used in food (small quantities) You need a degree in chemistry in this line of work.

many things people regard as a chemichal are used in food, one for instance is a paint stripper in its purest form but yet has an e number,is used in most cleaners and yet is safe to use in food, ipa sanitizes most things as you now know alan

Kevin, isopropanol is horrible stuff. It's banned for use in the print trade in many countries particularly USA, partially because it's so flammable in it's neat form and partially because of the health implications. Different states seem to put different risks on it, That's why alternatives have been produced. Have a look round the internet for the health implications. Yes, one or two like you will claim it's harmless but the majority won' t. Generally the people who claim it's harmless are the manufacturer's, just Google health implications of isopropanol and read it.
I certainly wouldn't be happy breathing in isopropanol vapour no matter how dilute I had thirty years in the print trade and saw many chemicals come and go, even got a dose of cancer but whether that's related to chemical use - who knows?.

Yes it's also a wetting agent.

That is the only reason it's used in print - to reduce surface tension of pure water in lithography. Other industries use it as a solvent. The stuff evaporates so fast that it is normally cooled on a printing press to about eight degrees in it's mixed form. Probably not a good idea to keep it stored in bulk anywhere near your house/garage because it's as bad as petrol regarding flammability.
Kevin, you as a chemist and blender of products should know all this  ::)roll
