I avoid builders cleans like the plague but I have a one off to do for a friend of a friend who did his own self build..

Plastic on the frames is proving be a pig. hard to peel and leaving glue behind..

What solvent to use to clean them up and where to source it online.

you can try solvent pvcu cleaner (wickes £6) first or oil flo expensive.
solvent should soften it if not heat gun.
with oil flo you have be extra careful not to get this onto walls. either way it will be time consuming.

someone else may suggest other products...

Clover chemicals, tar & glue remover. I was recommended this off here a month or so ago. I wasn't very optimistic about it, boy was I wrong.

Though the heat gun may work, I wouldn't be using it for the first time on a mates brand new windows.
It takes a bit of time and skill to use it properly.

Used it for years on builders cleans, put it into a spray bottle, spray on the window and leave for 30 secs then wipe away.
Easily removes left over glue residue and sticky marks.

Go to Halfords and get some tar remover or something stronger which is citrus based .

go to the shops that sell gutters and all the plastics and get there solvent cleaner

Wurth stuff gets rid of the glue once you remove the 'blue' protective tape (and any tar) - warning - won't dissolve the blasted glue builders use for rendering, "polysomething"

If you look around you can get it cheaper. I get 5l for £13.99 from a local cleaning supplies.
It's great for removing almost any stains from upvc frames and a good polisher on fascias after cleaning.
I discovered it for builders cleans but use it for lots of other things now.

for get all the expensive stuff what I use is the alcohol hand wash stuff .from the pound shop sounds daft but trust me it dose work ive been using this for a few years.

 normaly tell my custys I charge extra .

I bought a 5L bottle, still have half left, also fill a litre spay bottle each time I need to, I think it cost about £12-£13, it's not water based so dry cloths needed.

I was well impressed with it. First job was to remove Mazda stickers from a cars how room, I charged £60.

I used about 3/4 of a litre doing it and I soaked it. 20 mins came back and rubbed it all off.

Aqua jet tar and glue remover. Really good stuff
