Just a little story about what happened to me yesterday....
Was cleaning a hotel in the centre of St Austell yesterday morning, did the back, where I was parked, pulled out a few meters of hose to go round the front when for some reason I thought, better lock my cab, which I never do.
So started trotting off up the road with pole in hand and I passed a guy about 50, rough looking. He looked at me through a sideways glance and kept walking. I thought, hmm, he looks dodgy (I'm not usually a suspicious person)!
So watched him from round the corner and saw look into my cab window, wander around the other side of the van, where my barn doors were open and peered in, just as he reached out his sticky little thieving hand I had, unknown to him, clocked all this and was stood right behind him. He shat himself, I just glared at him, was probably about 2 inches from his face, he bolted, ran into a lamppost and down the street!
Always go with your instincts, if something doesn't look right, it's usually not!
