You could try by passing the controller
If the pump works fine without it and turns off when you stop the flow ( dead end ) then you know the controllers at fault. If it doesn't then problem is with pump, possible the pressure switch has had it. Which pump and controller do you have ?

Agree generally with above comment.

Which controller do you have? What calibration and flow setting do you have?
Also what pump?

It is most likely you need to adjust the calibration of your controller. Ideally correctly calibrated the control will always stop the pump before the pressure switch has to.

Cheers

Which analogue is it? Are you able to alter calibration. How many switches does it have?

how do you calibrate you pump

Can you let me know which controller type, brand and distributor it comes from and then I can advise on calibration.
Plus look at possible causes

If its an old Varistream controller, then the adjustment is on the inside - its a blue pot on the circuit board. You will need a small flat screwdriver to adjust it.

We found it best to carefully look at where the arrow was pointing before doing anything and make a note of it. Then twist the adjuster fully from low to high about 20 or 30 times. This is to clean the 'track' up as it apparently oxidises with time. Set the pump up to the flow you want on the front dial and then adjust the blue pot to just above the point where the pumps stops stopping and starting.

Switch off and screw the front panel back on.

We still have one of these working faithfully on my son's van. It is about 7 years old.
