Going to do first maintenance on pole what tape should I use is it insulating tape

Basically yes. This time of year make sure tape is warm.

When you come up towards the end. Stretch the tape round. I find it holds better.

I would recommend buying the best quality PVC electrical tape you can find. Avoid the cheap soft stuff as it really does not work as well.
