Do I need a new pump

I've checked my battery ,checked my connections they all seem fine but my flow reader keeps cutting out and saying bat any ideas all I can think is it the pump ,any ideas anyone it's driving me mental

Are you sure connection is ok we have exactly same prob with one of ours got a dodgy wire

Hi Daz,

Whats the standard voltage of your battery?

If the BAT error is showing it will either be:

1/. A lose connection / bad earth

2/. A low / dead battery.

I've checked my battery and my wires ,I'm going to go threw them all again , it works fine for a few hours and then starts and stops, think it's ladders for the rest of the day get sum Xmas pub worked off ???

Hi Daz, how old is your battery? Has it been fully charged? If it is working perfectly fine for a couple of hours and then dieing, it would almost certainly point to a battery issue (either needs replacing or charging with higher grade bench charger)

i had exactly the same issue with mine recently untill i got to a poit yesterday where it just didnt want to work, checked connections changed controller etc and everytime i turned the flow on the batt voltage dropped from 12.6 to low 11's,got my multimeter out and checked batt voltage while flow was on and was mid 12's then stuck probes right onto the outside of the battery terminals and they was down to 11.5 and obviously losing abit down the cable as you do it was into the low 11's on the controller display, i refitted the wires onto the extra terminals on the leisure battery and doesnt drop below 12volts now, all down to some cheap crappy battery clamps!!
see what your battery voltage is on the actual battery to determine if its a fault in the line some where or the battery may be going down?

I think this is very good advice - a voltmeter should be a tool carried by all!

Daz to check your battery you need to fully charge it then leave it for about 8 to 12 hours connected to nothing.
Then check the voltage with a voltmeter if it reads 12.8 then its in top condition anything below 12.2 and it needs
replaced.

Bin threw the lot now and is working again, my battery is charged by a split relay ,and I hope that was my problem have replaced it now so I'll see how that go ,as usual thanks for everyone's input , fingers crossed for tommorow

Good to hear the system is back up and running, Remember the Split relay will not necessarily put back all the current you take out. Even with a split relay a bench charge now and then is as a good idea.

How much current is put back will depend on a number of factors. As Glen states above a lot of current cn be lost at the battery terminal connector ensuring the connections to the battery are tight can be the 1st place to check. In particular the Negative (ground) terminal. Keeping the cables as short as possible will also reduce volt drop along the cable length (volt drop link ) http://www.springltd.co/node/133

You do not mention the age or AH rating of the battery.
During the discharge phase the sulphur in the battery reacts with the lead to produce current a by product of this process is for the formation of sulphate crystals on the lead cell. When you recharge the battery some of these crystal are reformed back to liquid. The more often the battery is taken below 10.5v the more likely these crystals are to harden on the cell. This means the lead cell is less able to hold a charge and with Volts dropping away more quickly during the discharge phase.
