water stop shut off on pole when using a back pack
« on: January 10, 2015, 01:01:58 am »
Hello all,

I have just picked up a facelift big boy pack with 22 ft pole and I dont want to waste pure water or have it going all over when moving window to window.

Firsly I am looking for a half decent water shut off valve and 2nd does this havean effect on the pump or hose connections with water pressure building up?  Would anyone recommed one that is known to work well with this back pack set up and pheonix pole.

It seems some are not that good and I dont want to by a duff one and thought I would ask here for true advice.

Thank you very much.
Scott

aquadapter. or tap on pole but the loop is a mare.
as long as theres no leaks the pump will stop.

Use aquadaptor or Aquatap well worth it for backpack use, neither have caused a problem with the backpack

Hi,  Thanks all for the replies, some good products there.  I just seen the Unger HiFlo On-Off WFP Valve that awsome and so easy to put together.  It seems like it just pinches the hose and hold and releases. :)

I think the unger looks great, so easy to set up and all you do is grip it shut flick it open and sits perfect on the pole.  I think everyone will have there own one they like but it does the job.  I just worry will the water pressure then goign back effetc the pump on a facelift big boy pack? I would only have it off for a little while whilst moving to the next window, so 20 secs or so.

;D  ive tried a tap on the pole works fine but the loop at the bottom of pole is a pain for getting tangled & tripping you up. aquadapter is a bit pricey but is easy to use pull for on/off simple.

I use a backpack daily and have always used the orange pole hose from Ionics.
No need for a tap or aquadaptor just kink the hose and it stops the flow.
Hose dosent get knotted whilst using it and all in all its brilliant hose.
How do you find the big boy backpack? I am looking to buy one when my current backpack expires,

Only just got it and it seems good, I need to find somewhere that makes pure water as can not pracice with it. not sure if you cna put noral water in the hose etc, somthing I need to find out, will it leave all the crap in the hose and brush. So need pure to practice.  But it seems sturdy and looks smart too.  I have the average hose lock and connectors with it, but will buy some metal ones soon for spare as these might go in time, so dont want to get caught out, but it appears good. I am just hoping the hose lock etc usit to pole dont leak like most hose connectors do, I will be right out and buying new one, my pet hate. Anyone no of any good hose lock connectors for backpack? decent one that will last?

You can practice with normal water mate, just make sure you flush it out when you start using pure

(Fill it with pure, empty it, and keep doing that until you get 000ppm coming out the brush head, shpuld only take a fill or two)

Never bothered with a tap on my pole hose.
On the end of my microbore I have a metal bodied inline tap with brass barbed tails and a hoselock style connector for microbore and usually just hold it in my hand whilst cleaning or clip it to my belt.

and I use one of these on my backpack
