Property for me too I got my first buy to let in 2001 as I was in my early 30s and didn't want to be up a ladder in my 50s
I'm 46 tomorrow and have been wfp for around 8 years now so that has helped with the knees but now my shoulders are knackered I also took on my first franchise this year so I'm doing less , back in 2001 I was bringing my son up on my own as a single parent so window cleaning fitted really good as if he was ill I just had the day off and caught up the next week drop him at school just before 9am- pick up at 3.20 and work in between it was a bit of a pain in the summer holidays as I never had any help from my sons mother but it was a blessing when we split as when we were together I was going nowhere living in rented property's then when she left in 1995 i threw myself into the window cleaning and managed to buy my own house 4 years later then 2 years after that purchased my first buy to let and I then played real life monopoly with buying property which sounds good and it was for 6or7 years then nearly lost everything when all the banks went tits up in late 2008 and then for 3or4 years things where really tough in around all that I also managed to build my dream home for my son and I where we had a 100in projector screen tv and full size dinning room pool table , that on its own took over 5 years to build and I'm still finishing off little bits still today , my son is now 23 and still at home I got married in 2012 and now have a nine month old daughter who for three months was sleeping really well now since she started teething I've not had a good nights sleep for 6 months now and I also started selling cars this year I currently have around 15 motors for sale and I did set up a wedding car hire business too a few years ago but that's not really making money .
I've loved being a window cleaner over the years it's a great job I'm also passionate about property I could easily give up selling cars I think I've gone on a bit here hope some of ya find it interesting     Marc

hahaha i knew someone would pipe up and mention my name its a very profitable business run correctly but like all businesses can be risky

Sorry mate. It's maybe a bit wrong of me I know but I couldn't resist it.  ;D

Excluding the legal issues, running a dealership like you did has sound business principles. There's some bloke I was reading about a while back who, like you, has done his time and then applied his past 'business' experiences to what he's doing now and has earnt a fortune.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

Great Post marc, take my hat off to you and admire you for trying different things, the fact that you were able to hold your
property business down during the credit crunch takes some doing. Good luck to you mate and all the best for 2015.

 Best regards
