Gardiners Smart clamps
« on: June 12, 2014, 06:33:15 am »
Ok on positive side has stopped sections spinning on my slx 22 so thankful for that  :)

Followed instructions in setting clamps that came with kit however finding it frustrating that the clamp lever spins so is fiddly to close when in use ... the lever and bolt move within the clamp body so the lever is sometimes facing the wrong way .... don't think its supposed to be like this ??

Thinking maybe need to "over tighten" them ?

No need to over tighten them Ian its just a case of setting them up right just so they dont spin , Their is a certain knack when opening and closing clamp lever it is just a case of time and practice . Mike

Hi Ian

The need for adjustment on the lever sets will vary depending on the age and wear level of the pole you have fitted them to.

What you will need to do to remove this spinning is to tighten the levers up a bit. To get them to the optimum point you will need to tighten the bolt cap up so that the lever is tighter than you have them now, but when the lever arm is fully open the clamp jaws are still not under any pressure from the lever cam. Try one full turn at a time. This should get you working with no further issues.
