Best business bank account?
« on: March 18, 2014, 07:51:51 am »
Hi,
I'm going to be setting up a business bank account in the next week.
Would be good to know some people's views on the best one around? I don't want to get ripped off by greedy (b)ankers!
Cheers!

If its your first one have some fun and shop around.

Ideally you want 18 months free banking and FREE BACS payments. Some banks are starting to charge a few pennies for this GRRRRR.

I would look at Barclays or LLoyds :)

I'm with Lloyds and my average bill is £20-£30 a month, I am thinking of changing to Santander as they have an account with a flat rate of £7.50 a month.

My dad just switched from Santander as they are closing a lot of small branches :( The one near us has just closed.

i use barclays, yes they now charge but i hope by the end of this year i will be able to take photos of my cheques and not actually have to go into the bank anymore.

saying that I actually put my cheques into my personal account so i don't pay the charges.... cheeky :)

I use barclays as well. We got a letter about two new tariffs. IF we switched to either we would have been a lot worse off. Having read the small print, then contacting Barclays you didn't actually have to change. Sneaky or what.

I use HSBC they have different types of business acounts, my online tarrif means I get free bacs payments even after the first 18months, the only thing I have to pay for is depositing cash & cheques after my 18 month trial

Don't have one and wouldn't have a business account! When I started up they wanted to charge me £50 "arrangement fee", or "rip off charge" I think they meant so told em to shove it, used my debit account ever since.

Join Federation Of Small Businesses. You get totally free banking with the Co-op. I`ve been with them 3 years and never had a problem. Ok it costs £150 a year to stay in FSB. Co-op gives you £25 a year for being a customer with them. There are so many benefits to being in fsb like free legal advice. Well worth a look.

I get a free account but NO counter service. I pay cheques into my personal account instead as I don't like sending them by mail.

I use santander and have done since they took over alliance and leicester. It was free when i was with A and L and remains free today , lucky for me !!, though in regards to not wanting to mail cheques i pay them into the post office and they are sent to Santander at Bootle on internal mail , i've only had a couple of delays and no lost envelopes/cheques in 4 years or so with  A and L and Santander and i pay in between 50 and 120 cheques per week.
