Flyer template help
« on: March 13, 2014, 03:21:22 pm »
I know this has been done several times chaps but I am having real problems getting artwork agreed with Saxonprint. I have designed a couple of flyers and even used templates from other sites but they keep bouncing them back saying wrong format, wrong size etc. I am not sure what I am doing wrong so if any of you guys have a template that has been used by them and you don,t mind me tweaking it I would be very much in your debt. It is frustrating the life out of me now and as I am going full time from April 1st I really need the flyers to help drum up more business.

Paul.

Cheers mate, problem is that Saxonprint take money up front before confirming artwork. I am going round in circles with them now. Send a new one, bounces back. I have asked for a refund and planning on using a local printer.

Looking through it seems very similar to what i use. (just ordered 5 batches today)

I would say at a guess

either its not 250dpi or in CMYK.

They list what they need bud, so you should be able to check whats ok and whats not.

Have you allowed for a 2mm/3mm bleed as well?

Do you mean 'Saxoprint'?
In any event all printers are the same and will want:
1. Your artwork to the correct size
2. All your fonts embedded (if you make a pdf to send them you can embed the fonts at the same time)
3. 3mm bleed all the way round (this means hang your pictures or coloured areas etc over the edge of the page by 3mm). You won't ever see them but when they cut the leaflet it gives them a fraction of leeway so you don't get a white stripe.
4. Your pics should be 300 dots per inch and setup as CMYK. (ideally not RGB).

Hope that's not too confusing.
