As a poling newbie!!

How do you clean 'above' the vents.

Piccy included - these are on virtually every window - 130 houses worth.

Scrub scrub. Rinse rinse.

 

I use a flocked brush aswell so it really grips any dirt and pulls it off the frame.

If it's a first time clean I will go back and of a final rinse once all vents have finished dripping.

I have cleaned this type of window all the time and never had a problem. But I would think you should not spray water direct into them. At that height my brush is facing slightly down or  right angle to the vent so the cover deflects the water flow.I always wash above them every time I clean. Once I have cleaned the total window I rinse from the top of the glass by moving the pole from left to right a few time at the top again.

First clean yes,thereafter now and then,maybe twice per year.

no problem.just scrub and rinse as normal.just make sure no water goes up inside the vent.

Only wash above on first clean ,then only when its a wet day ,as I an in Scotland never dry for long

I have an Extreme brush which is narrow enough to fit and clean above that vent.

With that number of windows my first run would be to just clean above the vent only and each side of it with a lower flow and move onto the next one. Drop down and do the next floor etc.

Once you have done, or done enough for the first vents to have 'dried' off a bit, then wash the rest of the window below the vents on the second run.

Cheers guys - I've been cleaning these trad for 2 years - easy enough to wipe around with a sill cloth..

Was trying to find a way of poling without cleaning em twice like Spruce suggested (that's how I've been doing it)

First clean:

Scrub thoroughly, do the frames and glass.  Work all round the house.
Go back to the start and clean just the glass.

Subsequent cleans:

Run across the top of the vent very quickly - cover the entire width of the windows on the picture in under one second.  That'll keep it clean but not allow water to run into the vent.

Clean rest of window below vent as normal.
