Happy new year all, an opportunity has materialized to price the above. Every 4 weeks alternating from  external (wfp) to internal windows. Appreciate any constructive feedback with regard to timescale expected and a blanket price what you guys charge for similar size properties. A little out of my depth but willing to take it on .Thanks in advance   Ed

I would charge at least double for insides, internals at care homes can be a nightmare, residents getting out their beds naked while you are in their room, residents trying to pay you for cleaning their windows (god bless them), window ornaments, locked doors, etc etc, oh and the stench.

Price accordingly. That's what I do for big jobs.

My daily rate, plus fuel expenses etc.

Just offer communal area insides  ... explaining the pitfalls mentioned above about going in / trying to clean residents rooms..

and also the risk posed to your health by being inside

They have internal cleaners that also clean the inside windows as they go all working on minimum wage. You can't compete with that. By all means quote but don't be shy. For care homes I would look at twice the external prices. Their staff must remove ornaments and any windows not accessable will be missed out.

Concentrate on the outside cleaning quote. Charge extra for first clean and less for regular maintenance cleans. If they skip/miss cleans then the initial clean price must apply. Stipulate this in your written quotation.

They will also expect you to drop everything and clean their windows at a moments notice - usually when they get wind that they are having a council health and cleanliness inspection.

Once the job is complete give them your invoice there and then. Have a duplicate that you get them to sign saying the job has been done and file it. Their accountant will be onto you a couple of weeks later wanting proof that you have done the clean. Post out a statement at the end of every month.

I would take Paul H's view but I would rather price higher than say too much

I clean this nursing home in the attached picture every 3 months inside and out. Its not very pleasant cleaning the insides, but you do get used to it. The doors to the rooms will always be open, If the door to there room is closed i just knock first, and if nobody answers i just miss out that room, as it means they could be getting dressed etc.  This takes me 2.5-3hrs to clean and i charge £220 in and out.

Mike you really ought to be more cautious putting those details up on here. Ive just found that care-home on google, got its location and am now ready and able to go in there and undercut your £80 an hour rate. Thanks muchly, £60 an hour will do me ta, whilst saving them £70.00.

I do a care home in and out and have found it to be impossible to clean every interior window. They know this anyway. Some people have relatives visiting, others are on drips in bed with curtains closed etc... They can smell a bit and are very warm. Sometimes they give me a cup of tea and a bingo card and i can sit down and join in in the main room

Paul, they insist that  insides are to be done . i mentioned to go every 8 weeks cleans but not interested every 4 .
Spruce , they have a regular supplier but the standard of clean is poor. Good point about the accountant !

Cleanclear , this care home is massive and to do the insides alone properly will take 2 men at least 3 days . Ed

Insides every 4 weeks too is that ? ...

Think some one made a very good point that I would estimate not even 2/3 of insides actually get done due to rooms being inaccessible , ornaments on windows and other reasons so on looking it may appear quite daunting ... The reality is in theses establishments that not all windows will get cleaned inside .. Mine are all on quarterly basis With externals being bi monthly ...

As also mentioned make yourself a sign off card .. Have it signed when you finish the job and send this together with the invoice ... And statement  via email that day or night when you get home ..

Some pay within a week ... Others run at most about a month in arrears ... Which tbh is still good
