Fixing Water Tank into van
« on: December 21, 2013, 04:11:07 pm »
Hi  - some advise would be helpful please, have gone over to WFP system in the last few months and installed everything into rear of van using heavy duty cargo straps to hold tank at rear of van. The problem is I`m finding if I brake a little sharp the tank moves forward which isn't something I want happening. I`ve just put into place metal poles in front and to help stop any movement. Hopefully this will help - apart from using a metal cage and bolting it through base of van has anyone else had a cunning way of solving problem ??

Thanks James

What size tank is it. The straps can't be tight enough if it can move under hard breaking. Mine has never moved . a simple cage or frame can be fabricated for very little cost.

Tank is 500 litres  - doesn't move much to be honest. since putting metal post flat against it across van deck its been ok. Even if I purchased a metal cage not sure how to fix to floor of van.

Before i had a frame fabricated i had ratchet straps hold the tanks in, i also had angle iron bolted, through the van floor, all around each side of the tank.

I like the idea of fabricating some additional metal to the base of a tank cage to line up with the bolt holes in the van's floor.

It's not to difficult, just a case of using a drill and nuts and bolts, I'm sure if your not confident doing it someone on hear can help you or maybe a local garage

I`m going to bolt down across the front of tank an angle iron to stop load moving and that and the cargo straps hopefully will do the job..
