From upright to flat tank ?

My combo starting to get a little cramped .. 2 man set up so 2 lots of reels poles etc and trad gear, bucket, cones etc so thinking of going over to flat tank which can be boxed in thus giving us a lot more space.

Have heard the pumps will be prone to airlocks but can sort this with non return valves ......... only other issue would be more weight over rear end which may be a problem as the suspension on a combo not that good to start with ... too low IMHO

Anyone got a flat tank in a combo ?

Haven't got a combo but been using a flat 500 Ltr tank, I get air locks
When I'm down to the last 150 Ltd due to it sloshing around while driving
It exposes the tank outlet to air. Apart from that it was fine. Upgrading to 800
Ltd upright now

G Ian that must be a tight squeeze all that in a combo I'd go for bigger van transit, Renault traffic or Vauxhalls Vivaro even the Nissan  👳👳👳

I have found the opposite. Went from flat to upright and find space is better.

I got a 500ltr flat tank in our L200. Never had issues with air locks.

I have a flat tank.
As OP says, fit a non return valve and you'll never get air locks, just turn pump off and shut the valve when you move the van.

I have only ever worked with a flat tank. Never (in 4.5 years) had any problems with airlocks, even when I have emptied the tank without noticing, I just switch the pump off, put more water in then switch it back on. I think airlock problems are more to do with a system that hasn't been thought out properly. Anyway, back to the tank, its fine and a flat tank is always better, if you have the space, as it has a lower centre of gravity and therefore makes your van more stable.

yup getting a vivaro lwb for 2 man set up and this will be put back to 1 man but with 2 pumps and become our "battle van" for all the 1st cleans / conny roofs etc but will still need more room to get pressure washer in  ::)roll

Hi, I'm currently running a 400L flat in my combo and its nothing but annoying. I've not boxed my tank in. I'm getting a 500L upright as soon as I can afford it.

I hope that is a new shape combo 2300, otherwise you will definitely be overweight.
