Advice on buying work please
« on: December 05, 2013, 04:18:41 pm »
Good afternoon gents,

Just a couple of questions for ye,  I've been offered some
Work that is to good to turn down, been
Established for 28yrs and I've known the fella for as long
So no worries about getting shafted (you would hope)
So I'll be having it.

1, when working the hand over with him would you say it fair
That the money for the round should be split?
Or should he work it with me as a token jesture

2,  can't remember the second question  ::)roll

Any other advice would be nice on the matter as I've not
Bought work before so its new to me.

Many thanks in advance

Colin

i have just sold some in Chester

On the day i worked with the buyers and they did most of the work and i basically introduced them and we went 50 / 50 on the days takings and then they paid for the value of the list that we had agreed

Split at the ratio of workers Col.  If you were to take no money for your work, then the asking price has just risen.

Hope you're doing well down there BTW matey :)

Also get the bloke to sing your praises Col, the lads I showed round last year, I told the customers they were honest, hard-working and reliable.  They trust your word, and it's a great ice breaker for the new guys.

I spent £3500 on a round in an area ive never heard of, gave the cash to a bloke I only just met, and didnt get shown round any of the work, all I had was about 5 sheets of paper with addresses on.

I wouldnt reccomend this method...  ;D

Lucky for me it was genuine and with the aid of a road map I found all the houses.  ;D

Sold it on after 5 years to a mate and hes still doing it to this day.

I did this when I was about 18 so was not as wise then.

is it trad or wfp, if trad expect to loose some because of the change in cleaning method and expect to loose a few because of the new face and any changes you bring in, BACS, CHEQUES NO COLLECTING and so on

If it's trad don't underestimate the amount of work changing a trad round to WFP especially if he's not touched the frames! ???

Yes all done trad at the min but VERY well priced!
All done monthly and frames are cleaned as well

I'm gona pole the upstairs and trad the down
So think I'll be buying a 125l trolley as its so compact
My van mount would take to much messing with

Thanks again
