a few little niggles today!gas boiler!
« on: December 04, 2013, 05:42:52 pm »
well worked 9am-4pm today.had a UPVC clean to squeeze in with my normal window cleaning jobs.weather was cold with a fair breeze blowing.

anyway come to clean the fascia clean and my L5 just wouldnt stay alight.wanted to ramp the heat up a bit but couldnt so cleaned with cold.still came up well.

i have it mounted right near back doors and have one door  open to vent the fumes.i had problems with it all day stopping and starting.near the end of the day it was working fine(wind had died down).in fact too well as the car radiator hose just slipped off the connector on the hot outlet spewing hot water all over my van! >:(

after i retightened the 2 jubilee clips on connector i finished my work then packed up ready to go home.

went to start van and battery dead and neighbours house alarm was going off for around 20 mins just to add to the annoyance! >:( ;D

anyway i always have jump leads in the van so got a customer to bring his car over.

glad to be home!tank full to the brim for tomorrow and battery on charge.drained heater etc.

ive had a good earning day but glad to be back inside nice and warm! ::)roll ;D.

so it looks like if its windy the heater wont stay alight.does anyone else have this problem with their L5 heaters?

very best wishes to you all

Daz not sure what my heater is but got it off Peter Fogwell about 4 years ago. We call it the fog wash and never had it go out in windy days. Also as its on back door I've had rain go in it before pulling a ladder over the top with a scrim or micro clothe covering vent no probs. how comes battery went flat havnt you got it connected with a split relay to van battery yet !!!! If correct you are going to when you get new van soon is that right. 👳👳👳

i have mine half way into the van on the side wall, leave doors open have never had trouble with the wind, it maybe that you need to move it more inwards

did you not try and jump start your van off your leisure battery?

it could be cutting out because its not ventilated enough, it the l5 is meant to be used outside,

didnt think of that scrimble! ::)roll ;D

no danny im not gonna get a split charge relay.separate battery.

it got really cold and damp around 4pm.maybe its time for another van battery.i have got a spare.i think ill fit it this weekend if it happens again.

i think what ill do when its windy again is shut the van door where heater is and open the other one instead and see if that works.

i dont think any of us in the north will be working tomorrow as its forecast gale force winds and heavy rain for most of the day. ::)roll

cheers fellas

The split charger is to charge the separate battery Daz.
Charges your leisure battery

Daz, its never the l5 mate! Amazing little machine.

Used to get this when we used them. End of day with water sloshing about used to create air locks that would travel through the system. Fix was a non return valve on tap and quick release to l5 from tank. Disconnect and flush when your low.

Might be that. I see your set up is new so no doubt your batteries are too, however they can just go overnight, the times a new set of batteries sorted us out. Horrible feeling when your blasting away with hot and your hose turns to bamboo cane in seconds!!!

Also drain it with the screw in the winter. Hose drain is not enough. It will freeze and crack the diaphragm.

Hope this helps,

Brad.

cheers brad. ;D

i had 3/4 of a tank of pure when it started going out so its not that.duracell batteries been in 3 weeks now so i dont think its the batteries either.

the wind was blowing all over the place and id turned the heater up so i reckon the higher flame plus the wind was blowing it out.ill try shutting the door where the heater is on windy days and opening the other one instead.see if that cures it! ;D

Daz do you have to keep taking battery in to charge ? Why don't you get split relay with leisure battery. 👳👳👳

danny i run an extension lead out to the back of my van mate to charge battery after filling my tank up.takes 2 mins.

i also spend lots of my working month parked up cleaning with hardly any driving in between so it wouldnt charge the battery up much either so dont see the point.

Fair play mate. Don't forget air can get trapped in the copper coil from previous days when water is low and build up. We disconnected from l5 cold in hose and flushed every morning. Amazing how much air hisses out. Even with a non return valve.
Never had probs even in high wind.
