well 4th day with hot water and all was fine until lunchtime then water started spewing out of heater from the hot outlet thread!hose then popped off the barb on reel!

the problem is the boiler hose fitting is 3/4 inch so i screwed a plastic screw thread on the hot outlet thread then screwed the boiler hose onto it.the heat was too much and warped the plastic thread.luckily one of my customers had another plastic thread i could screw onto it but i need a metal one!

any idea where i can get one from?

the hose barb on reel will be replaced with a 10mm barb instead of the 6mm so that will be ok.its just this screw thread on the hot outlet that i need to sort!

Go to a hydraulic or pneumatic supplier.
Or contact a hose specialist you'll have seen the vans on the road they supply factories etc and make up hoses to suit with whatever fittings you like on them.

Dazmond do you mean a metal male Hozelock connector? B&Q mate its what i have on mine and for the rad hose
from heater to reel i bought the metal female Hozelock. but instead of using it in the normal way get rid of the
collar that screws on and tightens around the hose and use a jubilee clip and fasten straight onto the barb.
My fittings have been on 3 years and I have no problems.

I've plumbed mine different to you so because I draw through the heater I've found the flexible metel hose fittings for a bath/basin screw directly on the heater and my pump.


PS don't you just love pulling 100m of thermobore off your reel on the roadside to fix the connection

this is what i need!in metal not plastic!they usually come screwed on a male hoselock.

Would a brass 3/4" to 1/2" reducing nipple be suitable?

If so you should be able to get one from a plumbing shop or screwfix, toolstation etc.

Those threads are made of polypropylene and can only survive 65 degrees so your water is to hot. Your hose  will go next. There is no plastic that will work under that heat.

just been to the new screwfix thats opened near me and bought these!(89p each)just fitted them to both  the hot outlet and inlet with lots of ptfe tape.changed the 6mm barb on hose reel to 10mm one and fixed 2 very tight jubilee clips.

hopefully thats fixed it!

im off now til monday as ive burned through my work so fast this week but ill wash the van and car on saturday with hot and see if there are any leaks.

its certainly a whole different ball game with hot water!ALL connections on your system have to be really tight and up to the job!!
