How do I unblock these downpipes?
« on: November 05, 2013, 06:47:55 pm »

With the front, there is only about 2ft between the two houses with the fence running between. The fence can't be moved - concrete posts -  and there doesn't seem to be anywhere else to rest the ladder. The bush at the back is about 6ft thick and I can't get close to the downpipe off a ladder. It's further than it seems in the picture. The downpipes are compacted with a little tree growing out of the front one. A gutter vac isn't going to do the job. I'm all out of ideas.

http://www.speedyservices.com/scaffolding-towers

maybe with one of these ?
Unbelievably they've just had scaffolding took down but forgot to get the gutters cleaned when they were up. Scaffolding towers are more hassle than I'm prepared to go to really, I'll give them the number of a roofer I know (another custie) and let him sort it out I think.

If you own a Karcher pressure washer get the Karcher pipe and drain cleaning kit.
Feed it up from the bottom of the down pipe and adjust the pressure slowly.
Wear an old coat with a hood as the dirt sometimes shoots out at the top.
Amazon sell them in different lengths.

You'd get it with an A point from either side.
Side with the car easiest if the hedge is a thick as that.

Give me the customer. I will sort it David. Bought those new poles today so there's no stopping me now. I am the gutter man!

Bob and Sean - I can't get at the bottom of the down pipe, it is cemented into the ground. I had thought of a drain cleaning kit inserted from the bottom to loosen it up and then vac it out but its a non starter.

Tom - I don't think you can vac it out, the front has a small tree in the down pipe.

Yeah, I'll let my roofer have a look unless you really think you can do it Tom?

The fence can't be moved - concrete posts

You should be able to slide fence panels out of concrete posts, they're rebated and the panels slip into the grooves.
