hopefully i will fix my connection problem
« on: November 02, 2013, 06:40:59 pm »
the problem i have is that i ordered the brass 6mm barb for the inside of my reel on the recommendation of alex in an email he sent me.its too loose a fit.he doesnt do an 8mm brass barb so ive ordered a 10mm barb.im hoping to fit it on my thermobore.if i immerse my thermobore in hot water first do you think ill be able to just squeeze it on to a 10mm barb? ???

THEN i will have a nice tight fit on the inside of my reel secured with 2 very tight jubilee clips. ;D

anyone else done this?

many thanks in advance to you all

not done it myself but i reckon it will work , wouldnt overtighten the jubilee clips though or they may cut in to the hose.

daz if you want to make the 6 mil fit better, what you can do is cut a small length of pole hose about 2 inches long and put that over the 6 mil barb that will make it about 8 mil (red hot hose is good) then put your thermobore over this and tighten nice and tight with the clip, this is what i do to use the plastic connecters from aquadapter which are only 6 mil and it works well, i also use hot sometimes

Hi Dazmond

In your email inquiry said that you had Thermobore which is 6mm ID this is why I recommended the 6mm fittings that you have bought. You must actually have the Thermobore PLUS which is 8mm ID.

You will find that the 10mm fittings does just fit the Thermobore PLUS. You will need to dip the end of the hose in a cup of boiling water for 20 seconds before fitting. As with all hot water hoses that are used on barbed fittings they should always be double-clipped.

Small but perfectley formed

Mike I took your advice an put a small piece of red AD pole hose on the 6mm barb then squeezed the thermobore on followed by 2 very tight jubilee clips.its not popped off even with 50 degree water out of brush!I'm well happy!

First day with hot water tomoro.no leaks or bad building up of pressure! ;D

Thanks mike ;)
