Bin Cleaning as extra
« on: October 16, 2013, 03:20:08 pm »
Was wondering the above. I saw a sign on one of my custys bins which said that the clean would be £3.50 for 1. Now large size bins we all have and at least 2 of them so £7.00. You notice my maths is really good ;D
I would imagine that once the round is built up it would produce a good income as you can do in all weathers. However would it be worth it along side window cleaning??
I did hear that the waste water from your clean cannot go down the drain but I dont think bin cleaners do this if in fact it is a regulation.
Also if I had a bin cleaned then I wouldnt need it cleaning regular unlike windows that you look out of and is part of your home that you look after, you dont think of a bin like that do you.

This may have been discussed before but wondered what the latest veiw points are?

But if done regular then not so bad. There a guy near me who uses a trailer on the back of his van and he seems to be doing very well out of it.
May not last though. When things get tight I am sure that bin cleaners would be the 1st thing to go in someones budget.
At least we are not that 1st thing now ;D ;D

A company cleaning the bins in our area did a really good job and then put in a bin liner. Lost their custom after that as no one would pay for them to re-clean a clean bin.

The current chap doesn't put in a bin liner so has retained his customers. The kit to clean wheelie bins is expensive - you aren't allowed to tip the dirty water into the storm drains as they used to do.

As far as I'm concerned, not many people make a success out of running another business along side window cleaning. Whilst it maybe fine to start with when you have a small customer base, it gets difficult when you grow.

I would advise to focus on window cleaning, grow it as fast as you can and stay focused on one thing.

ive seen people use a pressurewasher in one hand (petrol) and a small generator powered wet dry vac in the other to suck up the small amount of waste water from a regular bin, when full the vac gets emptied into a larger tank in the van and then disposed of, the bin gets sprayed with something that smells nice afterwards aswel, it takes about 30 for the whole process and he had a load of bins from the street all lined up, i imagine it would work very well if you had loads all on the same streets

You gotta remember they can only be cleaned on certain days when they've been emptied. You can get a machine you hook erm onto to clean them

Its a great add on that is far more profitable than window cleaning but you need to mass canvass.quickly aswell as leaflet.
You need a licence to dispose your used water down a foul drain on your property it will cost about 300 quid a year.
Theres is also another one off fee of about 150 to start with when you apply it all.
Average bin prices are 3 to 4 pounds to clean every 4 weeks.
120 to 200 bins a day is very do able with the right round.
Im looking at getting another van for bin cleaning.driveway and gutter cleaning.
Takings off all first cleans till march 7th 2014
October  total=  cleaned  extra per month
November = cleaned extra per month
Total £  so far.

In my area there is nobody who cleans the bins however it is very hard.    In Scotland you need to get a SEPA licence and be able to dispose of water in correct manner.    I know guy who does it and he gets to use Road Drains as his liquids are all Eco and does not harm environment but he uses a spray to make it smell nice.    Plus he can also put numbers on your bin but he leaves a huge advert which says 'I am cleaned By XYZ Ltd Cleaners,  Call 0800 XXX XXXX to get a bin make over'

A couple of squirts of zoflora.smells nice.
You can have printed stickers really cheaply printed to identify all the bins you clean.
