Gardiners hose reel
« on: September 11, 2013, 07:25:50 am »
Recently got myself a new premium metal hose reel along with 100m of micro bore.

Unfortunately the "quick tool free" setup left me scratching my head. (I am ridiculously inept at Ikea furnishings so expected half as much.)

Could anyone tell me what it where the blue washer goes from the connection pack?

As I have quite a few leaks, and also which parts would you lag with PTFE tape?

The blue washer goes inside the brass swivel elbow fitting that you have got. This must have popped out in transit - it goes at the base of the female screw on part.

This may well be the reason that you are having some leaks. There should be no need to use any PTFE tape on this product.

Did you spot the assembly instructions on the side of the box?

As a side point make sure that you tighten up the wing nuts on the sides of the disc tight enough.

Yeah saw the instructions Alex.

I'll try placing the blue washer as you said.

Is there supposed to be a little movement in the core part of the reel? You can shake it side to side a few mm. ?

A little movement of the reel itself within the framework is fine. This is sliding slightly sideways on the bearings.
