What length pole for these?
« on: July 04, 2013, 07:58:50 am »
Hi
I've never done anything like this before ??? ???
We can't walk on the roof obviously. The third floor looks like I would need a 30 to 35 foot at least.
The second floor looks the most difficult I can't see that I would be able to hold the pole extended at that length and at that angle.

Another view

Any ideas or tips on how to tackle this job especially on pricing the high ones more than welcome :D :D

A 35 will let you get the tops; let you stand far enough back to get the middles.

Maybe stand on a step up box (milk crate!) when doing the bottoms. The extra 2ft of height will let you get pressure on the middle cills.
It's a game of three halves!

Cheers Gold they have accepted that we can't get behind the Juliet balconies the internal cleaning staff are going to do them.
I just don't know if I would have the strength to reach them I am a bit weedy ;D ;D ;D
I'll phone Gardiners today see If I can extend my SLX 25 probably another 2 sections at least.

An extreme 35' pole on those 1st floor ones you'd barely know you were using it.

Slx 30 will do it, but as others suggest a longer extreme would be ideal

It's not as hard as you think doing the 2nd floor there.
No matter how strong you are.
Get the lightest pole you can afford.
At worst you could clean a pane or 2 then rest the brush on the roof to rest your shoulders then do another 1 etc...
Obviously you can't tell categorically but the roof, if it is what I think it is, is fine to stand on.
I do 2 jobs (for 5 years each) with a roof that looks the same and always stand on it. I'm 13st-perhaps you're a bit lighter too...
All the best with it

i would use my 40ft SUPERMAX on this job.i wouldnt have to fully extend it either so pole would be nice and rigid on the glass. :) :)
price higher/work harder!

Hi thanks for the tips.
I had another look yesterday my SLX25 just reaches the top of the 1st floor windows (2nd storey).
It reaches the top of the large Juliet window sets easily.
The roof is Zinc and the contract says "No ladders WFP only"
As this is the biggest commercial job I have been invited to try for and there are 3 more of these being built I wouldn't like to jeopardise the chance of getting them.
Anyone care to advise on price?
3rd floor there are 18 of those Juliet Patio Sets 2.5 mtrs x 2.5 mtrs and 62 windows
2nd floor there are 18 of those Juliet Patio Sets and 64 windows
Ground floor 16 Juliet Patio sets and 74 windows
Atrium with 25 lights cleaned from the roof.
200 windows over 3 floors 52 patio sets.

and

I've got a figure of £400 to £500 in mind per clean 4 times per year but any input from the wiser than me gladly welcome.
Cheers ;D ;D ;D

I would go in at a similar price range because of frequency of clean , Trust your gut instinct on the exact price and good luck . Mike

works out about a pound per window/patio doors.dont forget you ll be there most of the day so a day rate for me.you could clean 50 windows per hour so 5 hours.if you want the other jobs then £400-£500 is way too much IMO.

actually id try for £300.thats a good day rate IMO so if it takes you say 6 hours then its ok.
price higher/work harder!
