Give me your worst
« on: June 24, 2013, 07:01:27 pm »
Ok, give me the worst you got for being thick.

I've got some steel cladding to clean, he wants it pressure washing but it's too high so i'm going to use WFP with brush. The height is about 25-30 ft and I want to use G101 or Virosol through it.

Here is the dumb part, what else do I need apart from the pole and brush itself to get it to work?

Also i'm looking at this pole, is it any good?

Water!!
Also a pole about 35ft long. The one you are looking at will have you stood on tiptoes directly beneath the cladding.

Thought that funnily enough, or considered just waiting for it to rain.

Considered a longer pole, any recommendations?

Question regarding other equipment meant do I need a pump? Which one? It needs to pump chemical solution through.

As above just add water. Go for a brand new gardiners clx 27 it'll be much better than that thing on eBay

Have a barrel of diluted chemical.
Use your normal window cleaning pump.
Disconnect the inlet and plop it in the barrel of chemical.
Use the 25 litres of diluted Virosol or whatever on a low flow rate.
Then when the barrel is empty, reconnect to your pure tank and rinse off.
If you're not in direct sunlight you should be fine.
It may seem a ballache disconnecting/reconnecting between pure & chemical but you don't want it to dry on.

Only other option (I'd recommend this) is for one guy to pump & scrub chemical on with a low flow rate and another to go behind and rinse with pure.
On your own, the former is great though.

Polewise-you want something at least 5feet longer that the height of the highest point.
Otherwise you'll get wet.
Doesn't really what make it is for this job at this height but you may as well buy something nice to use on other jobs.
Gardiners seem the pole of choice on CIU. A 45ft Ionic Swift+ is a lovely pole too. It's my favourite.

All the best with it

I have done it the way Darren has explained when working on some remote buildings or you can use this

It sounds like you havent got any window cleaning wfp stuff. If thats correct then just connect the hose pipe to an outside tap and the other end to the pole hose. if you want to use chemicals then you will need to rig up some dosing equipment. What about a chemical thing for garden fertiliser like miracle gro.

Don't go for that pole its over priced and heavy.
A CLX27 would be a better buy if you can find one.
Im beginning to think ill be retired before they come back in stock.

do a test with the chemical you are going to use before starting and only apply chemical from the floor upwards to avoid any staining, do not allow chemical to dry out on the surface
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt

Trevor, yes I know this, thanks anyway. I did a test today so it's all fine.

John, TBH I'm not looking for a mega expensive pole as it won't be used day in day out, I don't want a crap one though but not an all singing all dancing one.

Smudger, i'm going to look into that, thanks. What's a mixer?

Darren - Thanks mate, i've only ever done low level cladding so have no idea how to set up water fed pole for chemical injection, i've only ever done it through a hose lock attachment to a domestic tap
