Anyone had success using debt collection agencies??

Which ones?

I'm after chasing a list of small debts (mostly under £100), is it worth going down that route?

i used the infamous Thomas Higgins technique on a curry house and got no response

I looked on the Thomas Higgins website after searching on here. They appear to be business to business only. Most of the debt I'm chasing is domestic with only one pub at £80.

Do it yourself Soapy... a letter before action to them saying pay up in 14 days or court action will commence and all the costs that incurs.

Then if they don't pay up start a court action with money claim online it costs about £35 to start it.... I find with domestic customers they pay up at that point...As you can add on a full day loss of earnings and travel etc to their bill on the day of judgement... Most domestic custards will not want a c c j so will pay up.....

Dear Mrs deep pockets,

I notice from our records that we are still awaiting payment for ___ No of cleans to your windows/conservatory. This payment is well overdue, and as such if we do not receive payment in full within 14 days, we will have no option but in instigate legal proceedings for recovery in the small claims court. This will incur extra costs to yourself, and may result in a county court judgement against you.

We are disappointed that it has to come to this, and this action can be avoided by full payment.

I notice CCJs don't exist in Scotland  Anyone know what the equivalent is?

Hi All,
I'm in Scotland and we have used Yuill and Kyle successfully (www.debtscotland.com). Good luck, it doesn't always work with smaller debts, sometimes you are better pestering the customer (nicely) on an almost daily basis until they get fed up with you calling!

Yes same here, got a job oweing £90 sent my letter today, if no relpy in 7 days then for £3 Thomas Higgins send a letter out tell them to pay up or we take you to court! I find a solicitors does the trick
