Be positive with your customers...
« on: May 15, 2013, 12:05:24 am »
I took on two nice accounts yesterday, both detached houses, one at £30 and the other at £35, meaning I've got five of these houses right next door to each other and two of us just smash through the work; nice.

Anyway, Wor Lass was chatting to the elderly guy in the last house about the WFP and he says, "There's another one around here" (meaning there's another WFP van around).  He mentioned the name on the side of the van and said, "But I was advised to stay clear away because he's a miserable sod!"

So the moral of the story is smile and be happy for your customers; they want more than just clean windows.

True story.

Can't say, but you can make an educated guess.  ;D

I've always found if you are cheerfull and chatty, you get more work and you tend to keep it.

By chatty, I don't mean you rabble on for ages but you take note of or sense when the customer wants to talk or when they don't want to or you know when enough talk is enough.

A very good few months back an elderly neighbour of one of my customers was unloading bags of shopping from her car so I said I'll carry them for you, etc, etc, etc.

Last month, she asked me, via the neighbour whose windows I already clean, to clean her windows having got rid of her window cleaner.

Yeah, a smile and a bit of proper human interaction gets you work but not always straight away.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

yes it deffo helps being a "people" person!customers are not just paying for clean windows THEY ARE PAYING FOR YOU!!

if your naturally cheerful and friendly then you will be at an advantage over miserable windys even if your price is more expensive!!

some customers are such a laugh.they make up for the miserable sods.although i try and cheer them up if i can! ;D ;D ;D
price higher/work harder!

Lets look at the evidence YOU clean nearby and WOR LASS was speaking to the gent.

Was he thinking of you Tosh?

  ;D

You're correct though, smile them into submission.

I got my first large contract by being positive and blagging that we did "big stuff" day in day out.

It was 5 storys and I had never cleaned anything but a house at the time.

Got contract then worried about it.

always positive with customers pays off  :)
