What are the advantages of soft brushes?

It says on the gardiner website that they don't last as long, so why would you have them?

the softer brushes are generally better for leaded windows and wooden frame windows that are not in good nick!

a good compromise is the medium mixed dual trim brushes.a good all arounder for all windows and frames IMO.

if that's the only advantage then it's not for me.

i thought it might suit fast maintenance cleans.

we use the mixed dual already.  its a great brush

In my 5 years of cleaning WFP today was the first day when I actually figured the brush on the end of my pole was not suitable for the job in hand.


I had a Gardiners Extreme brush on the pole, so I swapped it for my everyday brush, a Gardiners, dual-trim, flocked.

Cant see why some people think brushes are meant to be some sort of an art-form, a brush is used to loosen the dirt from whatever surface it adheres to. Dont most brushes serve the same purpose? The way some people go on here about them makes me think they're choosing their next duelling weapon.

By the way, the job I was doing that I felt I had to swap the brush-head for was this five-bar gate I was asked to clean. Not exactly a common event.

IMO they're lighter and possibly arent as likely to hold onto any crap. In a practical and effectiveness sense, there arent any; advantages.

I Have always used Gardiners standard bristled brushes for over 4 yrs but recently got a extreme soft and i find it a much better all round brush .

The brush seems to almost melt on to glass and frames with very little pressure been applied works great in tight spaces and cleans both glass and frames really well . Mike

only advantage ive found is leaded window's. There are probably more but i havne't read the rest of this thread

What I could do with (maybe Gardiners make it). Is an Extreme with the stiff red bristles. Purely for winkling out the crap on conservatory finials. I tend to use the red sill brush for this job but it's a bit unwieldy.
