A good Hybrid pole but if you are not bothered about weight and something that will take total abuse then please make sure you are sitting down .

I would not buy a brodex pole unless they brought out a game changing pole.

I'm surprised the theres 2 votes for carbon fibre my old clx took a lot more of a beating than my slx.

M&M is right. If you're gonna abuse a pole-the best ones are the hardest wearing ones.
Aluminium is obviously stronger than glass/carbon fibre or hybrid.
The 18ft ers are great if you don't want to do any maintenance.
You may be better served by buying a hybrid and looking after it though.

I bought an 18 foot Brodex pole as a stop gap and aside from being ridiculously heavy it only cost me £78 all in and lasted for over a year. Replaced it with a CLX-22 which is vastly superior in every way but the Brodex pole was good value and helped me develop my shoulder muscles !

what does it matter anyway?

surely you can afford a full carbon fibre pole and if it lasts 2 years you ve got your moneys worth.with these new clamps that alex is bringing out i bet the carbon poles will be lasting more like 3 or 4 years before needing replacing.

your wasting your time with anything other than full carbon fibre as they are more rigid and lighter making your working day easier and more productive.

Dazmond is right if you are a little quicker a a lot less fatigued you will get more work done in a day and more work makes more pennies. If you can do one more job a day at £5 that's £100 per month working a 5 day week. A couple of months and the pole has paid for itself

The thing is the weight difference on a 18 ft facelift or gardiners pole is only around 60 g plus i would have thought that  at 18 ft (22 ft extended ) bend shouldn't be a problem.

Why would you want to spend good money on a pole and then totally abuse it??

A bit of pole maintainance once a week is time well spent..
