Can anyone explain
« on: March 27, 2013, 04:29:14 pm »
Ok so have my IBC in garage now

Have rinsed washed jet washed and now filling with pure to then empty and start using as my storage tank

So I'm putting whatever spare I have I to the IBc at the mo and have about 450 ltrs in there at the mo ... Been in for a few days now...

So I test the Tds of the water coming out the tank via the drain valve at the bottom ...

It went on at 0ppm and is coming out at a reading of 10ppm

However if I test the Tds taking g a cup full out of the top of the tank the reading was 0ppm

Can anyone explain  ??? ???

Also on this when the tank s full and then I empty it will it be good for use after this ??

Thanks
Paul

could still be dirt ect at the bottom of tank. clean it again making sure you got all the sh*t out of it. then rinse it again with pure water.

I'm planning on filling it up with pure then just letting it drain out .. Then starting to use it after that ... So you recommend filling it again ??

I put 100 ltr of pure in mine and rolled it around the drive making sure each side was washed several times.
repeat 2 or 3 times with fresh pure and you should find it comes out clean.

Now this is what I'm going to do next .... After I've emptied it all out after this time

+1

We've got several 2nd hand IBC's, all we did is wash them out with tap water and then propped them up at one end so all the water drained out through the valve.  The tiny bit of tap water left in isn't enough to contaminate 1000 lt of pure.

If you can, take a sample from the bottom of the tank (maybe lower a cup or something on the end of a bit of string) - my guess is it will be the same reading as from the top so the only thing it can be is a bit of muck in the valve.

Hahahaha Ian you've had me on web cam lol... Yeah done that with 500 ltrs I have in there at the mo and its 0ppm ...

However as explained through the valve 10ppm

Looking at the comments think my tanks ok to go ....

It smells nice inside too as used fir fabric softener in a previous life ..
