Richly

Hope your well

Can't recommend anything personally

But do a search under "resource management systems"

You may find something somewhere to suit your needs

Mate

If I was you (as the owner / boss)

I would have them all start from your unit

Parade them on (army term)

Start at 8 (that's start at 8!!!!) for example ... So in van driving of at 8 .. So parade on 5 mins before kit check work sheets issued and off ..

It's your business so you have to be the first in / last away ... Fact

Work ain't a jolly for people mate .. You need structure and discipline and if they have neither then fook them off ..

Just implement it and run with it ..... I've found in a previous working life I had if you drill down on slackers one of two things happen

1. They embrace the change and step up to the plate (these are the staff you need to value )

2. They make no improvement so you drill down on them more so its unbearable fir them and the move on

I have three staff and what I do is keep a binder in the van with time sheet
new door and cancellation sheets also extras sheet and holiday form
extra sheet and holiday sheet stay in binder rest get changed weekly.
Works for us but if you are not there you will always wonder what
there doing but as long as they meet target you set which they
should if they have a regular routine.
Like previous post says start time essential get rid of dead wood.

Richy what's with the girl in the office does this mean your back on the glass
or still in office?

Id get them to START at your unit every morning!

Also id get there before everyone else as, 1, i could have a brew and, 2 i can do all the crappy things likes fill vans, print work sheets etc etc so when lads turn up you can hand sheets out and send them on their merry money making way  :)

As with all jobs you have to be there and ready to start at the "START" time. So 8:00am means youre ready to rock and roll, not fart around doing this and that!

Get something like this, stops misuse of a manual clocking in machine where someone can clock someone else in.

I would put implants under there skin so you can track there every move, also fit them with headcams and voice recorders, so you can hear what they say about you

As said
You must have employees start and finish from base.
Otherwise your leaving yourself wide open.
iPhone apps are available for gps tracked start times.

Mr B
If in doubt.....Leave it out !!

girl in the office only does about 15 hours a week and just chasing debts for me and rings work for the next day which i find tedious and just generally answers the phones

im just pushing sales and marketing at moment trying to get as much work as possible

last month ive been driving round quoting schools in the regions do 5 or 6 a day so i do need some one there to man the desk etc

starting to chill on school quotes now so back to leaflet dropping and canvassing if weather improves

we do start at finish at the unit start official time is 7.45 am finish is meant to be 5.30pm sometime they finish early sumtimes finish later

i tell them to get in at 7.30am to make brews n chat then expect them to be off out in the van at 7.45 which doesnt always happen

at minute i just have time sheets on the wall which they fill in but if they get bk early and im not there they prob stand around chatting n then pencil in time leaving as finish time

this is what i want to cut out paying wages for standing around being unproductive also have system to keep track of holidays. days off unauthorised absences self cet sicknesses etc

Your chart says 10 employees. possible loss £2700, that is £270 per employee, that isnt too bad

I would concentrate your energies elsewhere.

Focus on the big picture, and dont dwell on the trivial, employees are not machines, yes give them the gentle persuasion to work how you want them to, but dont get obsessed by it.

Weve all taken the odd 5 mins when we were employed, ie extending your break, sneaking off early, its no big deal, its all a game and you have to factor that game into your employee costs.

I would say you have to give a bit back here and there, and ignoring the odd stolen 10 mins is part of that, window cleaners work fard, its not a job i could do anymore, I think employees deserve a medal for the job that they do, but dont tell my staff i said that

yeah i know what your saying dave that charts for ten mins a day for ten employees but i could reduce my man hours down by prob an hour a day per man if they werent being paid to stand around chatting and faffing round

thats really simple to sort out, make it clear that if time sheets not handed in on  friday night then they will ONLY get paid a basic wage until they can show you a actual time sheet.its there duty to look after they sheets and is part of there job to fill out all paper work corect.

me fills that they tell you how to run the show richy, meaning you are trying to find a system which work around them, and not the other way araound.you really need to show them who the boss is nicely ,because as you get bigger and iam sure you will, the problems will get greater if you done sort out now.
