I had this problem with a reel with plastic spindle and Gardener only supply a plastic connector so I glue all the internal fittings with a glue called extreme, its in s silver tube.Never had a problem again. If I need to refit I will cut the hose free. This glue is flexible so works very well.Even the bayonet fitting came loose from the heat so glue that too.

They are not made for hot water use. Not the Claber reel, not the PF reel. I've got a Reelworks 460 reel, any pro reel will work fine. 8mm barb.

Yes, hot all the time, with gas heater. Problem is with most reels is that the hose exerts a lot of pressure when using hot, it completely destroys the Claber reel, and the pf  reel has got problems too.

I've had a lot of problems with pf reels when using hot, but they have done all they can to help and in the end I switched to their double stacker hose reel and dare I say it so far so good
