Facebook & Twitter

Hi

Firstly, would anybody be kind enough to 'like' or 'follow' me? Having just started these things I'm looking a bit like 'Billy no mates'.

Now, I'm not sure how much use having my business on either of these media will turn out to be, but seeing as everyone and his dog is doing it I thought I might as well. As I understand it:

1. If the right sort of people like you on Facebook / follow you on Twitter you can use it to reach them with promotions/announcements

2. You can you use them to back link your website.

I also thought that having the little F and T icons on my flyers / ads would make me look more 'contemporary'

The problem as I see it though will be getting the likes and followers. With Twitter it seems the way to get people to follow you is to follow them and they will reciprocate. But who to follow? - Anyone with a carpet?!

As you can see I'm still a bit confused.

FB & Twitter should be a small part of a bigger marketing strategy - they all add up to be bigger than the sum of the individual parts (apparently)!

There's a huge amount of opportunity to market your business on-line, but even for someone quite IT literate (i.e. me), it's a minefield - and can easily end up a money pit. At least FB and Twitter are free (well, they are in their basic form).

Check out my home page to see how you can integrate your FB posts into a website - it's a simple way of blogging:  www.zap-clean.com (near the bottom of the page).

Easy to get your Twitter to automatically repeat your tweets onto FB business page, so less effort needed.
You will be amazed at the people that follow ........ local estate agent or rug shop, I understand but recently had new followers from Marbella & California etc  :o

Funny thing is Chris, somehow I've got it set the other way - it tweets what I put on facebook!

Thanks for the 'likes' everyone  ;D

Heritage search Facebook for groups in your local area on Facebook. There are local group pages with things for sale, mother and toddler, local interest, village pages, dogging :o and much more...

If you can get you other half or you to join the groups then post on the group page with a link to your website, with offer for members or a recommendation. I say other half as most of these groups are used by women and a post from a woman member works/looks better. I have my other half doing for me and it does work.

Also another way is to get your local friends and family to post the link for your website with a glowing recommendation for your service on there news feed. This also does work but assumes that you have a few local friends and family.

Getting people to like your business page is good but is not really going to get the phone to ring unless they are local.

Another Facebook ploy is to create an account in your business name. Against Facebook rules but there are plenty doing it. Then make friends with as many other local businesses you can find and you will find 100's and then when you make a post your post will appear on there news feed. Offer special rate for commercial cleaning. Again this does work.

Social media can work and is free apart from your time and you are only limited by time and imagination.
