I had a mate who's got a large window cleaning bis in north west close his down as was getting less and less - he went all over uk for about 3 years with a few teams but dwindling results and lots of hassle made it un viable.

Thought u had a canvasser ?

im not sure ian where was you speaking to the lad

ive got a canvasser but hes looking at going to jail, this lad im speaking to is god like ian the window canvassing world i used to work with him years ago and hes been top boy for years n years i was just gonna have a discussion with him in regards to setting up a window cleaning canvasssing company.

i know a bit about this type of business ive looked into it and know a lot of cleaners get peed off with duff leads etc but id be looking at ways to soften the blow id prob be looking at keeping it regional to north west

you got any ideas on how it could work

Richy,

If you are going to go into canvassing then you are already doing it successfully. Don't over complicate it just duplicate what you are doing already because it works. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. Just duplicate it and duplicate it until it's as bit as you want it to be!

Hi

i don't want to knock you but don't you think it would be a good idea to get your window cleaning business running smooth before you start another business  ???

windows are running smooth again now mate two decent lads doing decent work customers are happy, was catching up with backlog and doing loadsa first cleans till this week had bit of van trouble with both vans injectors on combo and clutch on vivaro, collections are being done, card payments and bacs trickling in

its always been at the back of my mind to setup the canvassing as i think it cud be quite a good little number if done correctly where it benefits both parties as from my perspective the canvasser seems to be the only winner and they turn out to be bit snidey and untrustworthy

im not from a canvassing background myself but i know a lot of lads who are and a very good at it and have done door knocking for roof cleaning, double glazing, solar panel gas and electric etc who i could get on board as i think it would suit them as its not a hard sell aslong as its done correctly

how my canvassing seems to work is we leaflet drop and follow up within a few day of the drop and if we could use this method the window cleaner who hires us is killing two birds with one stone

like i say its all in my head at the moment and is no where near business plan stage yet just voicing an idea on here and getting opionions and views about other companys

Nice to hear things are ok at the moment  ;D

If you start the canvassing business it would be a good idea to start off very small to start with as i would imagine it could be a nightmare with customers dropping off ect.

Good luck Paul

thats the downside a lot of the time everyone blames the canvasser but half the time its the trampy customers messing them around sure the canvassers are going to try and get what they can given the chance

im just trying to rack my brains how you could charge the window cleaner with these drop outs in mind maybe giv an extra 5-10 leads free for every £1000 worth of work to compensate for any drop outs

if i could throw in my two pennies, what ever you do don't employ TC canvassing he has good and bad reviews all over but all i've had is wasted time and had my fingers burn't (still owes me £120 odd worth of work and its not from cancellations, theres more on top of that)

on the other hand i have had an advert in the job centre for two canvassers for over a month now, be it trainee or not and all i've had is one CV from a young girl ???  i'm finding that people just don't want to work hard for their money anymore :(

100,000's out of work nationwide but no-one around North Essex seems to want to work ???

Assuming canvasser not a total scam artist then any drop offs normally covered by further referrals from new customers plus after a canvsssing campaign ended the leaflets are still out there and generating calls for months later.

At a guess I would say after a decent campaign the referrals and late calls are worth another 15%
