How does this fit in with your charges....?
Went to do a quote at a house in the local area as they had been recommended to me by other customers in their village.
One item for cleaning was a rug sized approx 8 x 7
The elderly, ( but well healed and educated) husband said, " we had this one cleaned by another company a while ago" and showed me into an adjacent room to show me a nice wool rug of a similar size.
Having told him previously that I used to be involved in new car sales, I cheekily asked him what he had paid prior to quoting on the other one...
He said, " ohhh....I think we paid a little bit over £300.....maybe £325"
I then told him that I was never that expensive and would only charge £295 for the other one
He did give me a wry look before I gave him my correct fee. I had to admit that I just could not believe what he had paid for the clean and asked what he thought had been done to justify the price...?
His only answer was that the rug had cost a lot of money in the first place but he wouldn't be using the other company again !
Which raises another question....why do people pay a shed load of money for rugs that they inevitably purchased on holiday...just to stick on the floor and walk over ? Might as well get the kids to walk over the car outside whilst your about it....it's only money after all.....
