Starting to get slight slipping of 2 sections when working in the closed position, anyone done a refurb with epoxy resins??
I know someone mentioned a car paint laquer a few days ago. I am interested in how they get it on evenly.
I've laquered and SLX25 and CLX22 of ours on several ocassions. The method I used was to spray a couple of very thin coats on each section. The last time I did it was to take the pole apart completely and lay each pole section horizontally over 2 wheelie bins so it was just being supported by the very end on each pole section.
You will be able to spray a thin coat on both sides of the section, leave it to dry for a bit and then move the section round so you can get to the remaining 2 sides. Repeat for a second coat. Leave to dry in a warm place and do the same with the next section. Take your time and don't panic.
If you get a run, leave it until it dries and then sand it down with some very fine water paper.
Before assembly replace all the stop tapes, we use electrical insulation tape and assemble, which will probably be the next day.
You may fine the pole sections don't slide very easily to begin with but any high spots will soon wear off.
Its important that you spray a fine, thin layer of laquer only - you will be in trouble if its too thick. Don't do it when its windy, remove the cars.I used Gunk engine laquer from Halfords.
