I've now cleaned a few wool loop pile ribbed berbers. 

Because they are tight weave, fairly low profile, and ribbed I'm not removing as much water (HWE) as with tufted carpets (therefore less clean).  The ribbing in particular means the vacuum extraction process is not very efficient.

Am I missing a trick?

Should I use a rotary and encap instead?

Have you got a glide on your wand David? I don't notice a problem when doing these, maybe change angle you clean it from?

Yes I do have a glide attached to my wand Wynne, why? 

I finished off the trafficways with my stair tool (no glide), which helped quite a bit.

Maybe - but the glide isn't something you can take on and off easily... 
I used a bit of extra elbow grease on it too.

I put down 4 litres of pre-spray, and 2 buckets of rinse water (total ~20 litres). 
Extracted ~14 litres waste.  It'll have to do.

That's interesting guys, I have noticed a difference since putting on my glide. Maybe better taking it off and lobbing on ebay lol.

If a glide is fitted properly they are not easy to just pull off. Might be worth getting another wand, most suppliers can do a twin jet for under £200. Might even find one on ebay.

I took the glide off - I'm not sure it's made much difference, but I'm still checking this out (I need to do some more testing).

I did yet another cream wool berber last week.  There was dark (black) stuff in-between the loops.  I tried really hard to agitate this out and extract it.  In the end I tried agitating with a stiff hand brush - which lifted it to some extent, but this grey/black fluff/dust was really hard to move as it was bound up with the carpet fibres, deep in the carpet.

My process: Vac'd -> pre-spray with Cleansmart Split-X -> Agitate with Sebo duo and a hand brush -> extracted at 135psi with a stair tool.

Anyway, I did my best; but today I've been recalled to do it again.  So, does anyone have any suggestions to clean this carpet better?

The dreaded sock fluff.

Try brusing with a rubber dog grooming brush after cleaning, or go over with a rotary and pad afterwards. Tell customer to ask for slippers from Santa.

try shockwave pre spray agite with rotary leave 15 20 min extrcact a bit if not a good result bang more down leave 15 min then rotary and extract had some great results like this
