What a bitch frozen solid this morning 60 mins with heater blowing in back ....You know its going to be one of those days first Job step ladders snapped in 2 when i was at the top ( my fault didn't connect properly ) very lucky hit the window on way down broke vent custie came running out ,the one thing that saved me my gardiners pole used it to break fall like a pole vaulter , cut line in two and broke brush just paid £47 sheets for could have been far worse thank F--k for that pole ...Leg well grazed very lucky still in a bit of panic

i got caught out yesterday bud ... forgot to put heater in the van.... frozen and ruined my day.. doh.. i had to work today to keep on track. a friend of mine fell of a bungalow roof last wk shattered his leg in 3 places furthered by complications his heart stopped when having op to pin his leg ...... in intensive care at the moment . thats a result of a 2.5 metre fall...it opens your eyes

its really put me off also quoted a job next weekend £60 inside conny and outside glass etc dont really want to do it now too risky have to use ladders to get to 2nd floor windows at rear think i will cancel it

glad to hear you was lucky instead if just cancelling, just say you can't do the windows that you can't access from the floor if they say no they will cancel.

This just highlights why flat roofs are dangerous more so than many in here think.

Using a ladder to access a flat roof is a bit different to using a pole while up a step ladder.

Also, the thread isn't about flat roofs.

It's about doing something far more risky, having an accident and fortunately, the end result being nothing worse that a few grazes and a bit of cost.

in read it as he stepped off extension ( me think roof extension) hence my reply, if it was off a ladder using a wfp I would say that just as bad. I'm not slating the guy I'm glad he's ok

It just says the step ladder split. Nothing about a flat roof. No matter how much people want flat roofs to be like climbing Everst, they aren't. It is stupidity or lack of attention that cause accidents.

yes actually stepped off extension onto step ladder ...One of those that convert into a ladder unkown to me i hadn't secured it properly done the window above extension caught the hose on ladder jerked it off hence it was no longer stable ....How do you guys do the inside of conservatory roof without using step ladders ?

 i find it easier to use a stepladder than faf about with other stuff, up stepladder frames aswell as glass can be cleaned
