doesnt it show that price is not always the main driving force for some people and that a good cleaner providing good service is to some people more important

we are talking about window cleaning work here, not your main occupation as a rent boy  ;D ;D ;D
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt

No problem there. I had a local mong knocking doors and offering prices around €2 cheaper than me. Didn't lose a single custy. If windies think it's all about price, they're only causing problems for themselves.

I wouldn't worry about losing custies to undercutters, because who wants people that dump their windie for a cheaper price?
No still don't understand, I must be thick

Under cutting is just business i don't personally do it but loads of the big boys do it so why shouldn't the smaller guys  :o :o

If you was asked to quotes for a big house and you was told the last cleaner was charging £30 for 30 minutes work i would be happy to do it for £20 for 30 minutes work.

I try not to ask what their last guy charged, I'm more interested to find out why he stopped coming or why he was dumped. If I am told a price before I've given mine, I will normally try to increase it because they are price conditioned. At that point it all come down to the service offered. If I'm told the price charged after I've given mine and its cheaper, I can normally live with it.
There will always be someone to job cheaper.

When starting up I was told that the windys in the area charged £8.00 for a 3 bed semi
so I decided to charge the same. Found out later they charged £10.
Got about 15 of their custys because I was £2 cheaper.
Eventually dumped all 15 (messers and bad payers.)
As long as you do a quality job and are not greedy you wont loose a good custy
because of under cutting.

Undercutting saves you a job, building a business on undercutting prices makes the person undercutting work harder for less, feel sorry for them and carry in doing what you do and do it well, these tend to be the people that moan a lot and backbite other people doing better, and clearly cannot see the reason
If your not willing to learn, No one can help you, If you are determined to learn, No one can stop you ;)

one of my shop fronts is  £5 10 min work tops every 2 weeks, when i first quoted £5 she said her house in medway gets done for £3 fronts £5 all over????? anyway she has seen my work and is very pleased, i dont think she is lying about her house clean had the same cleaner since the 80s, but it goes to show if you are good and do a little bit extra ie i just wipe down the bottom of the doors and frames they will pay what you are worth, and no need to under cut

You have to feel for the guy if he is so desperate to do big houses with connies on for that price, plus as its been said its only the shyte custies who jump ship, so he will end up with low income and bad custies or maybe he is just supplementing his benefits for xmas.

I never understand the ignorance of some customers: They would leave the window clean they have  have known , trusted and seen there standard of work. |For someone they do not know trust and might get a crap job for 2 quid less. I don`t want to work for fools, let them go I say.  If I could get them to stay with me I will reduce the price do one clean and drop them like a hot brick.
I had a customer drop me at the front door when I came to clean. I ash her why,  she said because I never cleaned the back of her house but wanted full price. I said I take the trouble to drive out of my way to drop off a service reminder to leave the gate open  the day before and the gate is always locked .Then I will not be able to clean the back.
She said the new guy will climb over and for less .Yes I said till he falls and takes you to court for his injuries and receiver back pay that way. She still wanted to ask more  and I just walked away.Sleep on that thought, love.
I see she does not have a cleaner anymore.
                                       Fear is a great salesman. :o :o
