what are the advantages of having a lesuire battery?

My system is connected to the vans battery, with no problems what so ever...

As far as i understand a lesuire battery is designed for prolonged use i.e pump running off it for long periods. The car battery is designed for the short sharp shock of starting the vehicle up. The car battery is lasting ok because the alternator is always making sure its topped up.

the above is correct.. also you will find if a car battery runs very flat it does tend to knacker them.. as with most good leisure battery's you can run them completely flat charge them up again and they will be fine.
