Price increase note
« on: October 25, 2012, 04:07:41 pm »
Hi All,

What do you think of my price increase note below (in A5 format)?

I have used it before with no problems... Would you change the wording at all?

Andy

---
Dear Customer,

Because of rising business costs (fuel, insurance, equipment etc...) I have found it necessary to implement some small price increases.

This small price change will be effective from the next window clean. The cost for your window cleaning will change

From: £__________ To: £__________

These are the first price increases that I have had to implement since I began trading in 2005.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me using the details below.

May I take this opportunity to thank you for your custom. I look forward to continuing to ensure your windows are kept clean.

Kind Regards,
Iconic Window Cleaning

I wouldnt say that it is because of fuel etc.

If you do want to give them a note simply say you have been doing a review of your pricing structure and there will be the following increase.

I always give them he date of their last increase and the expected date of the next one, which for me is ususlly every 2 years.

Also taake out the word small. If you need to increase then put them up to a level that is correct rather than a small %. If you are going to do it every 7 years it needs to be worthwhile.

my husband said he will do em himself , he cant see how you can justify putting them up an extra 5p , the other fella did them for nothing , in fact he was so cheap he paid us to let him do em  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
the more flyers i post , the luckier i seem to get ...

I've just done a couple of increases today ;
All I put is a hand written note on the back of my slip that says
"Small increase next time of £ ??, so new price of £?? From next clean - thanks"

I've been doing it this way for a while now and not had a single person moan  ;D

Thanks for your input guys... I have now revised it as below.

From now on I'm going to be reviewing and increasing some prices every 1 year / 18 months...

virtually word for word to what I use apart from the bit in red above.

no need for discussion as for a customer window cleaning takes up 0.000001% of their daily thought processes as opposed to us lot where it prob 80% of our daily thinking.

Don't give them reasons/excuses for putting them up, just do it with a polite notice.

I wouldn't use the words small increase either. It may be small to some but huge to others.

I cant stress how important this is. If you link it to a reason you tie your own hands in the future.

I just write at bottom of my collection slip. Going up a pound next month with a smiley face. Never had a problem this way.

Totally agree - a quick, simple note is sufficent - as for words 'small increase' tho, Depends how 'small' the 'small increase' is surely?
I normally just go up a quid - maybe 2quid if over a certain amount - that's not breaking anybody's bank  :)
If I genuinely think they can't afford it, it doesn't go up till later

Dear xyz,

As from your next clean i will be increasing my prices. your new price will be £..........  Hope this is ok.

Regards,
Lance

This, in my opinion is all that is needed. Increased a lot of my work earlier in the year and only lost a couple of jobs. 10 at the most, i can't remember.

Increased the monthly turnover by more than £500.

Next year i will be increasing all the ones i never did this year.

If they want to cancel, I offer them a lesser frequency at a higher rate which usually works for me.
