i need some membranes  i moved 6 months back and my ppm  was 305  its now 687  thames water  my production rate has slowed down a lot but i dont have a pressure gauge on the system but it dosent take a lot to notice the difference  i have had the system 18months   its time to change membranes but has any one used the gardiners membranes  and ha problems with them before i buy them

tds seems a bit high IMHO. Is the tds meter right?

Personally, I would change them for 150 GPD membranes. A little more expensive, but produces 50% more water. Do a search back a couple of weeks where someone found some America made membranes at a good price. If you have an inline restrictor, then you will need to replace that as well.
If you use a tap to throttle the waste, then you may need a slightly different setting.

its alright i thought the tds meter was wrong to so i bought a new one and the same reaing came out i have been looikng to get the 150gpd membranes but i dont know the restricter i  have to replace do you have a link spruce to what it looks like an i can do it that way

I would contact the water board if my tds was that high, i swear its not meant to be over 500

i think  i need to buy another test metre    because when the water is pure 00 its reading 00  but when its hard its reading    679              689   i remember now i dropped the old metre on the floor  an bought a new one and moved flats next day so i didnt test water at the new place  :  its a hm digital aswell i moved from sutton surrey    to streatham  different councils   going to buy another metre good job tells me when the waters pure   iam not bothered  how hard the water is long as it tells me its 00

wow where are you based for a reading like that???

CHENOBLE!   but it may be that you have had some works done/pipes fitted flushed in your area so reading may go down hopefully?

yes this explains it i live opposite a school there having a massive refit all there pipes are up  i did a yest in stockton on tees   3 months ago and the reading was fine it must be the pipework they have been digging it up ever since i moved in dint know digging up pipework effected

right ive worked out the restrictor i have one on the ro so iam going to upgrae the system by buying 2 150gpd  membranes

Restrictors for different membranes 'sizes' and configurations are different - it isn't a 'one size fits all.'

They aren't expensive. If the restrictor is too small then the membranes life will be shortened. If the restrictor is too big, you waste water which will be much more expensive than the restrictor especially if you are on a water meter. Water production will also be reduced.

Water in Teesside is around 115ppm althought it can be as low as 90ppm.  8 years ago it was 255ppm so changing pipework has lowered this in Saltburn anyway.
