Wand modifications
« on: September 23, 2012, 09:15:11 pm »
I'm not sure if I'm making a rod for my own back by starting to fix something which isn't broke, but my jets are quite far from the carpet. I want to extend the jets, and possibly change them for stainless jets.

At the moment, the flow is set to 04 (2 x 9502 jets), I haven't got any gaps or particular overlap in the spray pattern even with the glide.

Am I right in thinking that if I do extend the jets, I'd be better off reverting to standard jets 11003 to allow for the shorter distance to carpet? And what exactly do I need to be buying to make this adjustment? Is it even worthwhile??

Thanks

Might as well ask this while I'm waiting for a reply:

I also need a repair kit for my K-Valve. If I use an extender with a 'check valve', will that mean I don't need to repair the valve? I don't mind repairing the valve but the bloody things go every few months!

Thats alot of Valves, what PSI you use? maybe it cant take it?

Get a feather touch on there, I've never had a feather touch fail.

If the k-valve goes that often you might need a new vavle altogether. The body of it gets worn down inside. They're cheap enough.

http://www.cleansmartsupplies.co.uk/acatalog/Carpet_Cleaning_Wands.html - The second wand on this page is great. The jets are much closer to the ground and also angled which ineffect digs into the carpet.

You can get jet extenders. Not sure where from or how much though.

Yeah my feather touch on my west pak (the one in the link) lasted over two years before replacing.

I normally use about 300psi, sometimes up to 400psi.

I've found the extenders on Hydramasters page.

I said every few months, - I just worked it out and this'll be the 3rd repair kit in about 14 months.

Maybe your squeezing too hard.

Get the Jet Extenders from Hydramaster

http://hydramaster.co.uk/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=86

along with the Jets personally would go for 110 being closer to the carpet now. Personally would just go for a new K-Valve as there not expensive

Why do you want to get closer to the carpet? If it is to minimise heat loss then a better option would be to increase the jet size to 03 or even 04 ( if they are available)

You will not get the angle needed to cover the full 12 inches of the wand if you lose extenders  even if you go to 110degrees, I use extenders and they put the jet less than an inch from the carpet.

Best look out for a 4 or 6 jet wand onnebay

To be honest, there's no reason why I want to do it (hence my point about not trying to fix it if it ain't broke), but then I think perhaps I'm missing out on even better results (slightly hotter water and higher pressure from jets being closer to floor).
I can't find 9503 jets anywhere, so thats whats got me thinking about extending the jets and swapping for 110's

95's are no good for that wand change the to 110's and take it from there! 9503's are a very odd size hence why you cant get them.
