Whole bottle red wine on sisal
« on: September 27, 2012, 08:58:32 pm »
A friend called me up yesterday...she spilt a whole bottle of red wine on her sisal carpet, which was now a day old.  ::) As I had done spot cleans on said carpet thought I'd give it a go.

Gave it a spray and dwell with m/s and cold acidic rinse with HWE. Due to profile not getting 100% extraction but no choice. Next enzyme and 15 dwell, then rinse.

Finally a spray with hot sod/met and wala stain gone! Wished I had taken a before pic doh!

probably will need a re-stretch but she was over the moon her carpet was saved!

Don't fancy making a habit of this  :o

Good luck trying to re-stretch it.

If it's been installed properly then it would have been stuck down.

Steve quite agree, her hubby installed it with self adhesive tape on the edges, he didn't mind
re-strething as the stain came out.

Got one tomorrow in an office of all places.
Stains the size of a dinner plate with dribbles
of it from it's origin to the door.
I'd called at the office to pick up keys for a flat
of theirs so saw it first hand and it looks to have
gone in deep.
They'd covered it completely with salt to soak up
the excess.
Doing the full office so will see what happens to it
just by cleaning then tackle it as a stain.
It's not carpet tiles it's polyprop carpet.
My worry is it's soaked right through to the base
of the carpet as there was so much of it.
Even if it comes out with extraction and sod met is
there any chance it will wick back later.

Yeah it may wick back but it will be weak, a damp towel wipe on polyprop should sort it. Or you could apply
a poultice in the form of white tissues/towels with a plastic sheet and some heavy books etc.
Or ch*msp*c stain sorb applied.  ;D
