customers who search for faults
« on: August 31, 2012, 10:52:45 am »
Done a first clean, with gutters fascias, spent 2 hours ,looking like New as they were green, customer comes out with paper with all windows listed and has marked I missed a corner and left dirt there, well I checked and its grease fron rubber seal ,I said you need a toothbrush to get that totally removed ,as that's a result of years of neglect, honestly its about 1 ml of grease can only see it if you search ,I explained how dissapointed I was as the house now looks like new and he searched for a tiny fault,I then explained I would offer a premium service at 4 times the cost and would require all the plants trimmed and dog poop cleared before I could get a scaffold tower in,also would need new hose as mine covered in spectacular dog s..t ,he then mentioned he was happy and see me in 6 weeks ,I mean Wtf,,,,why are some people like that it makes me feel like crap.

The problem with these folk, they think we a brainless asses with no pride in what we do who are out to rip them off. Snobbery at its best.

Sounds like he is going to be aggro.
I find if the customer relationship starts badly it usually ends badly.
It's just a matter of how long you are willing to prolong the agony for?  ;)

.......you are missing a golden opportunity for hi-jinx my friend. These situations are gods gift to window cleaners. This is a non customer - you are not going back, pick one of the following as a response and let us all know how they react.

1) Really sorry i cocked up, I'm struggling with stress at the mo, the doctor says i need to live a year as a woman before i qualify for the op. Would you mind calling me Susan for a bit?

2) Look up into the sky, then straight at them and say "do you smell eggs? i can smell eggs, are you sure you cant smell eggs?.......they say when aliens land and move among us you can smell eggs........are you sure cos i'm sure i can smell eggs...

3) Begin a stretching routine on their front lawn, when they come out just smile and shout "don't wanna stretch a hamstring.......national window cleaning competition at the weekend........think i could bring back at least a bronze"

Just done that!!!
Couple of months ago the thought of dropping a customer was unthinkable needed every one but has it's been said here -  good feeling to drop customers who don't respect us.
But seriously how can people live with their property completely surrounded with stinking dog s**t?
Something I just can't get my head around.

As I've said before:
We want the work but we don't need haste
