Im doing well
« on: August 18, 2012, 09:23:26 am »
So, its now day 19 of not smoking.  Still going strong and feel much better for it.

I have just done some calculations.  I was spending approx £3800 per year on smoking.  If i stick to the E-Cigs that cost drops to a mere £290 per year (and thats going OTT on the maths.)

Yeah sure the book that was mentioned is even cheaper but after reading it i still smoked LOL.

Congratulations Richie on giving up, I gave up cold turkey 7.5 years ago and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.  I smoked from around the age of 14 to 38 and smoked up to 60 a day (Friday night at the pub). I use to be really fit in my teens and early twenties but gradually my health started to decline.  It was a very gradual process of reversing my health but now I feel as fit as I did in my early twenties again.  Stick with it , its well worth it.

Hi Mike, Still got the problem with my feet and still taking Morphine twice daily.  Not suffering as bad as i was when we last talked though (thank god).  Thank you for asking.

Richard, thanks for the post.  I to smoked from the age of around 14 and im now 40.  Was smoking around 30 a day.  To help me quit im using what is known as a EGO T with CE4 e-cig as sold by www.vape4ever.co.uk which is where i get them from.  The e-liquid still has nicotine in (which isnt harmful in the doses smokers or vapers take in).  So with the nicotine intake you dont get the weight gain nor do you get short tempered both of which are normally associated with giving up.  60 a day   wow and i thought i smoked a lot.  I can tell the difference already in my health and thats just after 19 days.

Well done--  Stick with it-- you will find that after around 12 months you will feel better than ever. It takes that long to get right again. You will still have a bit of a cough, you've all that crud to get rid of.
I stopped in 1985, cold turkey. Well almost- we went to St Lucia for 3 weeks so it was a complete change and was a lot easier.
Now I can smell when I am two or three cars behind a smoker on the motorway, it makes me feel nauseous.
I am now 70 and got the machine to a 3rd floor flat the other day without collapsing. The back has given up though!!

Kinver Clean, funnily enough I quit whilst on holiday in Antigua, admittedly on the last day before flying home, but I had around 3 months off in between buying another business and zero stress which was a big help, brought a black labrardor to force to go out twice a day walking him which gave me plenty of exercise.

I think I will give these a try.

Just tell me one thing Richie, honestly. You are doing this because you are genuinely impressed with the results, and you have absolutely nothing to do with the people who sell the product in any way shape or form.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

My Granddad used to smoke up to 80 filterless woodbines a day! They went up 10p a pack in one budget many years ago and he stopped to avoid paying the government any more money. {He never had a bank account either}. He moved on to licorice allsorts as some kind of replacement? Anyway, lived to 91 years old and saved a lot of money. Keep it up.

I've smoked since the age of 18 and am now reaching oap status without any visible detrimental effects.   Will it catch up with me tomorrow - possibly.  Do I want to hang around till I'm in my nineties - probably not - cause there's a high chance that something else will get me before that.
You only live once - do whatever you enjoy - and take your chances
