I have a full roof clean job next week, the first I have ever done. I have booked a pucker pressure washer and roof ladders from a hire company. The pressure washer comes with a 8m hose.

My mate who is the manager tells me that the pressure washer need to be the same high as the roof or it will loose pressure travelling up the hose to the roof. He says I need an tower to make sure the washer is same height as the roof.

Surely that's cant be right otherwise every roof cleaner would be having towers with washers on and that's dangerous. Is he right ? His been doing the job for 20 years so no reason to doubt him

I think he's talking rubbish there mate. The pressure difference would be minimal.

i think what he meant was not to aim the PW lance upwards towards the top of the conny

and wash it downwards.

personally i would never use a pressure washer on a conny , just wfp for me with either tfr or ecover.

i thought the same too mike.... make sure you have the right insurance and safety equipment for the job mate

No way. I'm an engineer by trade, its a pressure washer ie water comes out at high pressure, the head created will be next to nothing so no worries

wouldnt touch roof cleans with pressure washer. Would worry me if water went through to the house dont think you would be insured for that. To much hassle for the money !!!!

A pressure washer works on positive displacement and the height makes very little difference. A very long time ago, I was a marine engineer.

pressure washer does not need to be the same height as the roof, you will need a longer hose tho, sounds to me as if he's trying to get you to hire out a tower so the hose might reach, just try and hire some more hose, good luck with it! can get very dirty!
