« on: August 04, 2012, 09:15:53 am »
Anyone do Whitley Bay? I have a gutter job to do here and she wants her windows done every month. Pass the monthly clean on to someone if interested.

Cheers

It's quite a wealthy area is Whitley Bay (I'm from down the road in North Shields; a bit rougher there).

Why not take it on?

Its too far out my way Tosh.

Unfortunately not in an affluent area... ;D

Its a 30's semi (not that big) with rear access over the garage roof. Furthest I go is Blyth.

Gutter job done so windows are due next month

Aye mate, Shields is a bit rough like. ;)

Just been to my mums in Sunderland and was shocked at the prices, she has a 3 bed semi and pays £3.50 a month, what is the going rate in the north east?

We are were a a bit south in Teesside we try for £7.00 but not always successful - depends upon the area. I'm sure there aren't many paying £3.50 though. There is an old boy who was charging £2.00 for some 1 bedroom pensioners cottages (bungalows) a while back, and has the whole lot - 25 of them; nice money for a couple of hour's trad work at the most.

We are up against a big company of mainly trad 'port hole' window cleaners who charge a fiver, but they do it every fortnight.

Whilst that may be an incentive to get more for a monthly clean, people believe that they need their windows cleaned every 2 weeks, so pricing higher for monthly isn't good value for money.

The guys hit the area in a gang and work 3 to a house, so can also be very intimidating for anyone who wants to discontinue their service. They shout and scream instructions to each other with a few 'F's ' and 'B's' thrown in for good measure. I do greet them when ever I see them. I've taken a couple off them but it's no big deal as I have enough work at the moment, so don't actively canvass the area.

I also don't want them to trash my van while I'm round the back somewhere.
When they do the street I'm working in I stick to the fronts and mess about always in view of them and the van until they clear off around the corner just incase.
