Im selling some work on DUE to needing surgery on my neck for the 2nd time , theres no saying how long i will be out of work .
Ive broken all my work down into areas (COMPACT WORK) so all the work averages out at £500 it takes me AS a sole trader working 9 til 12.30 to complete over 2 1/2 days .
do you take THE BEST OFFER ?
or do you take A LOWER OFFER ?
Based on the fact a lower offer was verbally agreed .

It's business mate, sometimes you just have to look after No-1. I would probably first give the lower offer an opportunity to up his price to match the higher one.

The one thing I would make certain of though is that the higher offer is solid, as in a serious & credible offer!

I'm sure the guy with the lower offer would understand- nearly double is a different matter to someone just offering you a few quid more.

Could you not employ, or perhaps rent the round, for the immediate future?  You might be back on the glass sooner than you think

I dont want to employ as with me only being a sole trader i only have enough work for myself which would mean if i did return then i would have to get rid of the person i employ , as for renting when i had the first operation done i went down that route it was ok to start with but after a couple of months i was getting loads of complaints .
i no what you are saying about being back sooner than i think But ive been strongly adviced by the surgeon that i need to take at least 12 months away from wfp work , all the looking up is doing me no favours at all , after the last op i ended up rushing back but wont be doing that this time .

In the meantime he obviously kept showing the work as he got a better offer, he did return the deposit.
Is he a trustworthy person - of course not.

So it's up to you - don't lower your standards - a man's word used to be worth something, obviously not anymore.

it maybe a lifetime away from cleaning , so do i cash in now , lose what ive built up , or rent .
I can and will build up a round within 3 months if i needed to start again .

yeah i do agree ABOUT being a man and sticking to my word , I allso think due to the fact i may never come back to window cleaning I should take what i can while i can .
IM not a person who likes to let others down , but when a big change for me is going to happen THEN ive got to look after myself and family .
IVE  never shown my work to get better offers , all ive done is mention to customers that i would not be going for much longer , this obviously spreads around as i was contacted and asked if i was going to be selling any work .
its like this for me at the moment I DONT want to let anyone down BUT OFFERS STAND AT .

Explain to  ;Dthe person with the verbal agreement the situation. You can't afford to take the lower offer. You worked hard to build it up so you need to get as much as poss

or you can go back to the 1st offer and explain what has happened and although you are normally a man of your word, you have to put your family 1st.

Offer the guy this proposal, that if he raises his offer to match the 2nd one minus 10% he can still have it, you will have shown honour and its upto him then.

This is a suitable option - it will give the first buyer an option to increase his offer
