Get paid while you deliver your own flyers!
« on: July 09, 2012, 04:40:56 pm »
Like many others on here I send out a fair amount of flyers. The problem is how to get them distributed at a good price with a reliable service?

So after giving the problem some throught I've contacted a catalogue distributor in my area.

They will pay me £70.00 per thousand catalogue's delivered through the letter box.

Off hand (I think the Royal Mail) charge around £45 - 50 to deliver 1000 flyers.

It seems to me if i have a van loaded with catalogues, and my own flyers, plus a couple of  people helping, I could get my own flyers delivered for free, and make sure the job is done properly.

What do you think folks?

They probably wont be happy that you are delivering their catalogue along with another flyer.

Check the T's and C's

I can carry 500 leaflets in one hand I bet you can't carry 20 catalogs!! They are big and heavy, not as easy to deliver as you might think

You'll take forever to deliver a 1000 catalogues.
Watched them doing the old style YP round here
a few years ago, back and forth to van.
As Mike says you can carry thousands of leaflets.

Do'h I thought you typed "laid", so I was really looking forward to delivering leaflets tomorrow, but it appears that I mis-read the title!  :(

I dont intend to be humping loads of catalogues around. I was thinking more along the lines of:

1. Van full of catalogues
2. Drive up street, say 20 houses or so and drop off 2 piles of 20 catalogues either side of the road.
3. Helpers follow van, one either side, pick up a  ;Dpile of catalogues and deliver along with flyer.
4. Repeat

Or as suggested use a trolley of some sort.

Apart from the sheer effort involved, can anyone think of any other not-so-obvious problems?

Getting 'laid' while out 'Flyering' ? bet it's happened to someone/somewhere!! ;D

Depends on size of cat. if its a Betta ware type one  when i ran a team of people they could easily do 100 an hour.

We often get cats with our flyers.

If its Littlewoods size you have problems

How many helpers you going to take? and how much you going to pay them?
Much more hassle than its worth.
you might as well just get out there and deliver your flyers!
If people dont want the catalogue they wont check inside it incase theres a flyer inside.
Catalogue and flyer both get chucked straight in the recycling bin.
If you deliver the flyer on its own, you know they've seen it.

I have this picture in my mind now of someone trying to shove cat's through letterboxes, the 4 legged ones with tails ;D

I reckon on paying the helpers around £5-6 per hour (after a trail run).

Remember this payment isnt coming out of my pocket, and the idea isnt to make money delivering the  catologues, the idea is to get my own flyer delivered for free.

So, if i can get people who are happy to work for that sort of money, and can get a good system in place so it can run itself, then it could have good potential.

As for delivering them myself, I'm expecting to get to the point in the not to distant future where I simply wont have the time.

The flyer wont be inside the catologue, its going to land on the floor next to it, .........and completely steal the show.  ;)

Anyway, only one way to find out, and thats to give it a try.
